Where did Muthesius live during his stay in London?

It was G.F. Handel who initially led to the search for Muthesius´ appartement in London. A Mr Greenacombe had asked for a copy of IfHaS´ `G.F. Handel: A Guide through his Native Town´. Meanwhile I had found Dennis Sharp´s little publication on Muthesius from 1979 - and the pictures showing H.M. and his wife at "`The Priory´, Hammersmith". After I had found out that Mr Greenacombe was at the Survey of London, I asked him: "Have you ever heard of Muthesius? Do you know whether Muthesius´ London home does still exist or not?" (24.10.01) Some hours later I had a response (via e-mail): "We have indeed heard of HM, and we have made extensive use of his books (...) for our researches into the history of some of London´s architecture and buildings."

Greenacombe couldn´t tell if "the Priory still exists", but he would go on looking. On November 5th 01 I received another mail: "We think that the `Priory´ at Hammersmith may have been the house now called No. 6 Lower Mall, Hammersmith." As he wasn´t "absolutely certain" he gave to me the address of the Hammersmith and Fulham Archives. Anne Wheeldon´s answer from the Archives can be read below.

Greenacombe was so gentle to sent a copy of a picture showing the streetside view of No. 6 Lower Mall.
